Finally finished packing all of my craziness for Megacon 2013 this weekend! I will be debuting my new costume Red Sonja this weekend. I don't say this often, but it might be my best work yet I have been prepping and crafting for a few months now to create this a very dramatic interpretation of this character. There was a wonderful piece of art drawn of her that I based some of the design off of mixed with a bit of my own imagination (I can't just do a simple scale mail bikini... It has to be over the top and unique!)

I am a guest there and will have a oath in Special Guest Artists section C I will have my prints and come by to say ohhai!

This last weekend was my vacation from conventioning (kinda)

For the first time in a long while I went up to Orlando/Tampa with some friends for our Halloween weekend.

First day we stop in St. Petersberg to get my tattoo touch up and my friends to get some pieces done which took up most of friday and then Halloscream later that night. Halloscream was great (I have never been was a little bummed that I couldn't go to HHN for Silent hill house and Walking Dead) but it was still great. I am one those girls that scream a crap done from jumping things. There was a house dedicated to Clowns and was all glow paint and "3D" during one point a clown jumped at me and I tried running in a different direction and smashed my face against the fall and ripped my pants >.

Spooky (which is a horror convention) was pretty interesting I have never been before. Usually held at Whydam (what I call the hotel) was instead hosted at the Hilton. Pretty hotel and very spacious. Now I am not AS giant of a horror fan as a lot of kids out there, though there was some awesome stuff to buy. It was mainly just drink a lot and whatvever con. Basically few panels that were meh, guests I never heard of, and bad horror movies and blah bands (no offensive to any of thme just not my thing) but I was very happy to spend the weekened with no costume and just hanging out with my friends.

So unless you live under a rock, you probably know that last weekend was the holy gods of conventions.. NYCC 2012 (while some may argue that SDCC 2012 would have that title over the years it became more of a pop culture sensation fest to me NY seems to be the biggest as far as pure comic/anime/game culture)

I almost missed my plane, thanks stupid alarm, and was freaking out because the check in lady said since I had 5 minutes til plane departure that I might not get my bags
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU MY COSTUMEZZZZ

but I ended up getting them when I landed, but I had maybe 7 heart attacks that morning

I also derped again, since I live in South FL and currently sitting outside sweating in 80 degree weather, I forgot that everywhere else in the country has seasons so I ended up being ridicilously cold the first day but bought a pikachu onesy and ran around NY in it.

oh also so much walking, shall bring x 10 comfy shoes next time

Now I have to say it's a tie for "biggest" convention between nycc and dragoncon.. nycc had a lot of mind blowing exbitors and had a really good mix of cultures through out the vendor booths. But maybe Dragoncon seemed bigger to me because I look for how many people are running around in clownsuits, Dragon defiantly won that so I shall leave it as a tie.

My heart also pretty much exploded this weekend, Marvel asked me to help work with them and then kept asking me to go on stage to pose for pictures (even though I have terrible stage fright I kept my composure) and had a blast, and don't want to say much about it but there shall be some things I ma doing with them in the future

SO as you can hopefully tell the body paint MJ shoot blew up, while I did take it down for a short time unsure how I felt about having paint on the itnernet (due to the fact i think it's art while other's would be DAT AZZ) I decided to put it back up but was reported to take down which isn't the first time this has happened on facebook amongst costumers/photographers. Thankfully DA respects the fact it's art unlike facebook.

It hit everywhere while I was happy that it spread through 9gag reddit and everywhere else I was only pissed at one particular page for posting it and refusing to take it down since I just in all honesty find him to be a giant wiener..

So the month of September to pretty much mid October every weekend I will be at a show which I decided to call my little "tour" which all kicked off with Dragon*con

Dragon*Con Review

This was my first D*con since every year something else gets in the way of me going. It didn't hit me until after I left Atlanta how much fun I really did have despite all the stresses during the show. I think next year if I plan it out better it will be a killer. It was a great show for my birthday since I knew so many people there and it really was the superbowl of costumes. It honestly was a blur to pick some of my favorites since even the simple ones up close have incredible detail. Yet again Black Widow was my most loved costume, I find that rather funny that my most simple costume gets the most rave (I know Avengers just came out Black Widow madness EVERYWHEREEEE). Overall I give Dragon*con an A- for the little things that pissed me off but that was more of a personal thing than the convention it's self.

Baltimore Comic Con

Last weekend was BCC which seemed to fly past my eyes since it was only a 2 day show. And after Dragon*Con this show seemed small and quick but still nice to get to see a new convention. It was really just a weekend of photoshoots and not much else. I did run over to the costume contest, honestly I usually don't care for them considering I see costuming more as fun than a competition. I had one fickle about this particular costume contest though was that there was no pre-juding just walk on stage pose and be judged. I find that to be a bit unfair, though the people who won I thought the awards were well deserved but sometimes the judges don't see how much work is put into simple little costumes and give out awards to the ones that are just big and shiny. I'd like to point out one in particular, there was a girl as slave Leia while from far away you would think it would be a store bought sort of costume.. not because it was bad.. because it was that good, she was standing behind me so I ease dropped and the costumes took her months to make and the details on it were mind blowing that you would think no way in hell this is handmade. That was my only little problem was that sometimes the simple costumes can be the most challenging and incredible but it can be over looked if not asked or explained. But still not ragingin on the con or the costumers that won, but just showing that you don't need a giant robot that lights up to be something breath taking.

Mary Jane Body Paint Shoot

Now I don't want to go into to much detail about this but I did have a photoshoot yesterday of something that I always wanted to do. The body painter Jessie is an incredible artist and I am so glad he wanted to work on this with me, I'll leave it at that and have the pictures speak for it's self !.

Afo was a great time this year. I ran into a bunch of costumers I did not even expect to be there! I can't wait to get photos of the Zombie Hunter Hatsune Miku!

I also found out I will be working at Jon Hughes art booth at Vegas this year at end of september! It will be an awesome birthday!

Also another convention to add to the list will be Dallas Comic Con Next year!


I will be starting on the new costume shortly and I can't wait to wear it. It shall be a honor of another one of my favorite artists!

This last weekend was the amazing photoshoot in Orlando with Superhero Photography! It was incredible and I had the chance to hang out with some amazing costumers. I also got to shoot with Yaya Han which was defiantly the icing on the awesome cake!

The shoot was Avengers VS Xmen VS Justice League, and of course team Avengers won the battle !

In the end we have a little over 2000 photos, with basically a whole editing crew behind them, I am pumped to see how they turned out! I also had the chance to shoot with Stacy (SGH Photoart) again this past weekend. He is the wonderful artist behind the Poison Ivy pictures, I was Black Widow for both shoots, one version with tac gear and brutality and the other that is the classic pin-up sexy.

This week I will also be having a photoshoot with Max Cookies Power, it will be an awesome Venom body paint that I have been looking forward to for so long!

Then a week break (not really I still have to finish making zombie hunter Hatsune Miku) and then off to AFO!

So let me point out that I love anime to death, and every year I go to Anime Festival Orlando, it's a smaller convention but it's always a very well put together convention and has some pretty good panels.

I was considering entering my Poison Ivy in the costume contest this year so I glanced through the rules to see more about pre-judging and etc.

It basically said only the following costumes may enter

Anime/Manga
Video Game
J-pop/J-rock
Original Design

So I emailed them asking if characters from a comic book could enter
Basically they wrote back that claiming if it was American it would be disqualified.

I find that rather funny considering there have been a bunch of comic books (Batman, Xmen, Etc.) that have been turned into animes,

Or I could even get trolly and enter in as original design, considering it's an original version of the costume
And since when has one certain genre of geekism been denied in a contest? I don't see comic cons denying anime. star trek, star wars, etc.
And I even recall last year there being plenty of video game characters in the mix that were created in america
But here is where I pay my mana for a counterspell, the whole big thing this year of the con is that Tara Strong is going to be there (Creator of My Little Pony AN AMERICAN SHOW)

So can ponies not enter in the contest? Because I'm sure there is going to be a jamillion of them there!
Or even Korra for that matter (never seen it but I believe it's an american show as well)

So really if I put my name as "Ivy-chan" on the contest sheet then will you allow me to enter

I have to giggle at the fact that a lot of facebook pages have been posting convention photos of my Batgirl and saying "Best Batgirl at SDCC", even though those pictures were taken at Supercon.. and I wasn't even at SDCC


Just made me giggle a bit :3

It really puzzles me why people are butthurt about people being exact to a costume...

I get it"true to the comic, must be like comic, one of us, one of us" (tehehe)

To start off the armor pieces and design of the costume, is based off the one Alica Silverstone whore, even though I didn't find the movie great at all the suit was pretty badass imo.  *Thank you again Jester Fx's)

The hair based of Barbra, A. because she's my favorite Batgirl, and B. Redheads are awesome

I just prefer the sound of Batgirl instead of Batwoman, personal preference either way I am a bat with lady parts.

Alright now that that's cleared, back to my original hournal entrry

There's is nothing wrong with people doing "accurate: costumes, some of them do turn out spectacular. But to me when I choose a character or make a costume *Batgirl, Ivy, Phoenix, Widow), I make it to what I see that character looking life if they really lived in our world, and how it would overall look on me if I was that character.
It's being creative, it;s trying something new, and apparently a lot of people don't want to grasp that concept.
We all know the usual costumes for characters  and not to say there is anything wrong with doing that costume, I just like doing thing's differently.

I could go on and on but I think I made my point, I would rather let my creativity flow and make something will catch people;s eye instead of doing something I have seen 0485-3984503976039 times.

Anyway, now I have the DA account finally running again (there was some slight confusion on my end) Let's party!

The new Batgirl photoshoot with Superhero Photography by Adam Jay went amazing last night and I will be posting photo's of it slowly but surely! So stay tuned for those.

I am also working on a new costume for Anime Festival Orlando (considering I have not done anything other than comics in a year now)

I know, Vocaloid, been there done that seen it in every which way and form, but I do love it and I am going my own version of her so it won't be so, er washed up?

Problem is the zombie heads I ordered were a little smaller then lifesize so I may just have to go with "Psycho Miku" instead (either way, will still be epic)

I am having some issues with Dragon con however, due to a slight lack in money and hopefully staying with the famous Iacca! It's my birthday that weekend so I am dying to go but I am playing it by ear atm.
